Welcome from the Principal

Welcome to Cambrai Primary School and Preschool – the heart of the Marne Valley since 1888.

We are truly a community school nestled in the historical hamlet of Cambrai. Our families also come from the nearby town of Sedan and the farming areas of Black Hill, Sanderston, Sandleton, Angas Valley, Wongulla and Fisher.

At Cambrai, we believe learning is strongest when children feel a deep sense of belonging. Our work is guided by the spirit of Kanyini – caring for people, place, knowledge and each other. We focus on creating an environment where every child feels safe, known and valued, and where they understand that they matter to their community.

As a small rural school, our size is our strength. We know every child and tailor learning to support their individual growth. Our focus on learner agency encourages students to set goals, reflect on their progress and take increasing responsibility for their learning and behaviour. Children are given real opportunities to lead, contribute and make a positive difference within our school and the wider community.

We are proud to be living and learning on Peramangk and Ngaiawang Country. Through place-based learning, cultural understanding and connection to our local environment, students develop respect for Country and a strong sense of responsibility to care for the land and community around them.

Cambrai is more than a school – it is a community hub. Alongside our Reception to Year 6 classes, we offer preschool, playgroup and occasional care, and support community services including our library, nursery and local pool. Our unique learning environments, including the Meldanda environmental site and our Dark Sky experiences, allow students to learn through inquiry, nature and real-world experiences.

Our dedicated staff work closely with families to support wellbeing, build confidence and nurture capable, compassionate young people who are ready to contribute to their world.

I warmly invite you to visit and experience the Cambrai way – a place where children, families and community grow together.
